London Orthopaedics & Rheumatologic Physiotherapy Treatment

orthopaedics_rheumatology_london_physiotherapyMusculoskeletal is a general term which relates to the muscles and the skeleton; it also involves the joints bursa, ligaments and tendons. In Medicine, two different branches deal with problems involving these structures:

  • Rheumatology diagnoses and treats conditions such as arthritis, bursitis and tendonitis or more important inflammation of joints and cartilage and soft tissues involving immune system reactions. Rest, physiotherapy or specific medications and injections are prescribed in those cases.
  • Orthopedics works on the same field, focusing more on posture disorders and sports injuries. Surgery is performed if a patient is not responding to a conservative treatment. If orthopedic operation is not a necessity, in the majority of cases, the best conservative treatment is physiotherapy.  After an initial assessment where the extent of the problem is evaluated and data from medical reports is gathered, the physiotherapist will create a program of exercises aiming at specific targets and adapted to specific needs of the patients.

If you are an Axa or Bupa patient, you cannot book online. Please call our office with your authorisation number.

If you cannot find an appointment that suits you, call us or send us a message: we will do our best to find you a slot.

Each session evolves around the mobilisation of the joints involved in the problem. The muscles contracted and reacting to pain are stretched and reconditioned in order to improve the patient’s performance, achieve set goals and facilitate the recovery process.

Prevention is also a priority for the physiotherapist who will show you how to execute everyday actions without doing the wrong movement which triggered the problem the first time. The physiotherapist will also teach you exercises to do on a regular basis between each session and when the treatment is over. Those will help you to keep the pain away on long term basis and avoid the problem to reoccur in the future.

Our physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments are covered by most health insurances and are Bupa registered & recognised (BUPA Global and BUPA UK), Axa registered & recognised (AXA International, AXA PPP), Cigna registered & recognised and WPA registered & recognised
