Bursitis osteopathy treatment and rehabilitation in London with our osteopath specialised in joint inflammation

When a joint is injured, it irritates the bursa as well: a small sac filled with fluid located in the articulations between tendons and bones. Initially made to cushion the friction between the tendon and the bones, when the bursa gets inflamed it loses its capacity to fulfil its function, causing then pain during movements and swelling to the area.

Our osteopath in London is specialised in treating various bursitis such as hip bursitis, shoulder bursitis, heel bursitis, elbow bursitis or knee bursitis.

At London Home Visit Physiotherapy, our osteopath can help in bursitis treatment and rehabilitation. With an extensive knowledge in sports and tendon injury, she will give you safe and efficient osteopathy treatment, which can as well be coupled with physiotherapy rehabilitation for the fastest recovery.

How can osteopathy treat bursitis?

Osteopathy can use various techniques to help you get better safely and quickly:

  • Soft manual work on the tissue
  • Treatment of myofascial pain, which helps release trigger points and get the muscle back to its full strength
  • Stretching exercises

Bursitis treatment is even more efficient when combined with physiotherapy. Along what osteopathy can do, physiotherapy will also be able to:

  • Teach you the right positions and movements to not get any further irritation in the future and allow the injury to rest
  • Use tapping techniques, to reduce the pressure of the bursa and unload the joint
  • Help with exercises to help your muscles keep their strength
  • Advise you on how to manage your injury (rest, ice, medication)
  • Refer you to a doctor if necessary

Why do I have a bursitis?

Bursitis tend to happen when there is a prolonged and excessive pressure on the joint due to repetitive use, mostly when you keep moving your articulation too often and/or in a wrong position.

But it can be the result of other causes like systemic diseases such as inflammatory conditions or traumas (accident or fall for example).

What are the signs of bursitis?

  • Pain when touching the area injured
  • Swelling
  • Painful movements
  • Muscle with reduced strength
  • Heat sensation, area feeling warm
